I was thinking of nominating Pacific Rim: Uprising which is grouped under the Pacific Rim (Movies) tag with the first movie. It's kind of tricky because some (very popular) characters from the first movie also show up in Uprising, but a search for fics tagged with the main characters from Uprising (Jake Pentecost/Nate Lambert/Amara Namani) comes in well under the limit.
